Frequently Asked Questions

-
What is the purpose of The WeLL?
The WeLL is designed to provide a community for young adults so they can meet other young people at Emmanuel. We've also designed The WeLL to be a comfortable place to invite friends who don't attend church on a regular basis. Our goal is to help young adults become closer to God and form a relationship with Him by creating a loving community for them to be a part of.
-
When and how often does The WeLL meet?
The WeLL meets the first Thursday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in The Fieldhouse (the red and white building on the northeast corner of Emmanuel's campus). During the weeks The WeLL does not meet, we provide House Huddles on different nights of the week for The WeLL community.
-
What is a House Huddle?
House Huddles are what we call multiple small groups that gather together at one location weekly. We do some kind of large group community-building activity (ultimate frisbee, cookout, cornhole tournament, pizza party, etc.) and then afterward, we break out into our small groups to discuss topics that are relevant to young adults. We have a House Huddle available just about every night of the week. To get plugged into a small group or House Huddle, please fill out the House Huddle form located on the main page of The WeLL's website.
-
Does The WeLL only pertain to college students?
No. The WeLL is designed to meet the needs of young adults in all different walks of life. We like to use the terminology "20-somethings." If you are no longer in high school and you aren't old enough to be the President of the United States...The WeLL is probably the place for you.
-
I'm dating someone. Do you have to be single in order to come to The WeLL?
No! If your relationship status on Facebook says, "in a relationship," "single," "engaged," or "it's complicated," you belong at The WeLL.
-
I'm not a "20-something" but would still like to visit The WeLL. Is that okay?
The WeLL is designed for college students and "20-somethings"; however, all young adults are more than welcome to check it out and see if it is a fit for them.
-
I have only come to Emmanuel a few times on Sunday morning. Can The WeLL help me meet some people at Emmanuel?
The WeLL is designed to give young adults the opportunity to get to know each other through Round Table discussion, Post-WeLL activities, and special events on other nights of the month.
-
What is the Post-WeLL?
Post-WeLL is a time after the message and Round Table Discussion where the opportunity for building community takes place. Post-WeLL activities include things such as playing games, eating, going out as a group for dinner, and other activities. It's a great opportunity to get to know other people also attending The WeLL.
-
Who speaks at The WeLL?
The WeLL has various communicators who come to speak as we move through different topics that are relevant to the young adult demographic.
-
Will I look like an outsider if I don't know anyone?
Absolutely not! The WeLL makes every effort to make everyone feel welcomed and appreciated. There are opportunities throughout the night that give you the opportunity to get to know other young adults at Emmanuel.
-
Are there areas that I can help with and get involved at The WeLL?
Yes! Help is very much appreciated and needed. There are many different areas where The WeLL could use your assistance. If you are interested in helping, get in contact with Jim Gearries at jgearries@egreenwood.org.
